A mix between a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog

Bernedoodle and Mini Bernedoodle Breed

What is a Bernedoodle?

Mini Bernedoodle puppies (aka Miniature Bernedoodle, Bernadoodle or Berniedoodle) are a popular hybrid breed that combine the intelligence of a Poodle and the loyal, gentle nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog (not to mention their amazing coat colors). They are a mix of a mini Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog (BMD). A Standard Bernedoodle crosses a BMD with a standard Poodle. Properly bred, they tend to be loyal and less active than some other Doodle breeds.

These adorable fur balls are an excellent choice for families due to their friendly demeanor, resilience, and adaptability. Bernedoodles are also known for their hypoallergenic coats, a trait inherited from the Poodle parent, making them a good fit for people with allergies.

Their well-rounded personalities make them great companions. They’re playful and energetic, yet also love their downtime and cuddles. This balance can be a great fit for active households or those with children. Bernedoodles also tend to be very intelligent and quick learners, so you can expect training them to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

In addition to these traits, Bernedoodles are also renowned for their longevity and health, thanks to the hybrid vigor often seen in mixed breeds. In essence, Bernedoodles are a wonderful addition to any home, combining the best of both breeds into one lovable package.

A Bernedoodle (aka Berniedoodle or Bernadoodle) is a mix between a Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog.

Do Bernedoodles shed?

Overall, Bernedoodles are a great breed choice for those who suffer from pet allergies or want to avoid the added mess of dog hair in their home, as they tend to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic.

For those who deal with allergies, we encourage you to consider adopting a curly-coated pup. Typically, the curlier the coat, the less shedding that pup will experience as an adult. However, it’s still important to brush them regularly in order to reduce any shedding and keep their coat looking healthy and beautiful.

With a little extra care, you can enjoy the many benefits of owning a Bernedoodle without worrying about shedding. If you are looking for a non-shedding, hypoallergenic puppy, read our article about “The F1b Advantage“. Or check out, “Is It Appropriate To Call Doodles ‘Hypoallergenic’?“.
