Goldendoodles are a cross breed of a Poodle and a Golden Retriever or a Poodle and a Goldendoodle. This endearing breed is the most well-known and popular of all the Doodle breeds! Goldendoodles are known for their playful, loyal, and intelligent nature. They are very loving dogs who are highly trainable and make excellent family dogs as well as service dogs. The Poodle and Golden Retriever mix is perfect for homes looking for an active puppy that loves nothing more than to be with their family. Goldendoodles need regular exercise and are at their happiest when they get regular play time, walks around the neighborhood, or trips to the dog park. Goldendoodles are also a great choice for homes that already have furry family members as Goldendoodles typically adapt very well when they have other pets as friends.
Our Goldendoodles grow to four different sizes. Our Toy/Petite Goldendoodles are within the 5-24 pound range, our Traditional Mini Goldendoodles are 25-40 pounds, our Medium Goldendoodles range from 41-55 pounds, and our Standard Goldendoodles grow to over 55 pounds. Goldendoodles have gorgeous fur that is usually wavy to curly and can come in a large variety of colors. The most popular Goldendoodle colors are red, English Cream, caramel, and apricot, but they are also known for having black, chocolate, and multi-color coats. Goldendoodles are known for having the “Teddy Bear” look that makes them so adorable!
Goldendoodles are the most popular Doodle for excellent reasons. These gorgeous Doodles are friendly and adorable and make excellent furry family members.
Sheepadoodles are a cross breed of Old English Sheepdogs and Poodles. Sheepadoodles are gorgeous dogs who are known for being obedient, easily trainable, and great family dogs. Sheepadoodles differ from Goldendoodles at first sight. Sheepadoodles are usually bi-color, with black and white or red and white coats in beautifully marked patterns. Sheepadoodles also have typically less curly fur than Goldendoodles, giving them less of the “Teddy Bear” look, but have fur that is very soft and shaggy. Just like our Goldendoodles, we have four sizes of Sheepadoodles – Toy/Petite Sheepadoodles grow to 5-24 pounds, Traditional Mini Sheepadoodles grow to 25-40 pounds, Medium Sheepadoodles grow to 41-55 pounds, and Standard Sheepadoodles grow to over 55 pounds.
The main personality difference between Sheepadoodles and Goldendoodles comes from the Old English Sheepdog breed. Old English Sheepdogs are typically more high-energy than Golden Retrievers and have also been bred to be herding dogs. Whereas Golden Retrievers were bred to be playful and loyal, Old English Sheepdogs were bred to herd sheep and keep other animals in line. These herding tendencies are diminished when bred with Poodles, and Sheepadoodles are typically calmer and more easily trainable than their Sheepdog counterparts. They are a medium to high energy Doodle breed as opposed to the lower energy levels of the Goldendoodle. Because of these higher energy levels, families who adopt Sheepadoodles should be prepared to exercise their newest furry family member more often than families who adopt Goldendoodles.
Sheepadoodles are obedient, playful, and family-friendly Doodles who have definitely made their mark on the Doodle community!
