Transitioning from Puppy to Adult Food

Feed your dog the same kind of food every day; we highly recommend TLC Whole Life Pet Food. Unlike humans, a dog’s digestive system cannot handle changes in food. It can cause upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea. When switching to from TLC Puppy to TLC dog food (we recommend at 1 year of age), gradually transition him to the new TLC Dog food by mixing portions of both foods until you slowly phase the old food out. Protect your dog from getting sick while changing dog food brands.

Here are the simple steps that will make this an easy transition for your dog.

Step 1: Day 1 – 3: Mix 75% TLC puppy food with 25% new TLC adult food.

Step 2: Day 4 – 6: Mix 50% TLC puppy food with 50% new TLC adult food.

Step 3: Day 7 – 9: Mix 25% TLC puppy food with 75% new TLC adult food.

Step 4: Day 10: Feed 100% of the new TLC adult brand.

This slow schedule will allow your dog to adjust to the new food without indigestion, diarrhea, or constipation.

Consult with your veterinarian if there are any problems during this transition period and follow his advice.
