A mini Newfiedoodle (aka Newfypoo, Newfiepoo, or Newfiepoo) crosses a mini Poodle with a Newfoundland (first generation mini Newfiedoodle) or a mini Poodle with a mini Newfiedoodle (f1b Newfiedoodle-75% mini Poodle). Standard Newfiedoodles are a mix of a Standard Poodle and a Newfoundland. Newfiedoodles and mini Newfiedoodles are widely known as companion dogs because they are family orientated and attach quickly to their owners. Newfiedoodles are typically larger and calmer than many of the other Doodle breeds.
Our Standard Newfiedoodles very much have the “gentle giant” personality. Although our mini Newfiedoodles are considerably smaller than our standards, they are still much larger than many other breed’s “mini” version.
Introduction to Newfiedoodle Traits and Personality
Newfiedoodles, also known as Newdle or Newfoundland Poodle Mix, are a relatively new designer breed that has gained popularity in recent years. This adorable crossbreed is a mix between the gentle giant, the Newfoundland, and the intelligent and energetic Poodle. While they may not have an established breed standard, Newfiedoodles have gained a reputation for being loyal, affectionate, and great family pets. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the traits and personality of these lovable dogs.
Physical Characteristics
Newfiedoodles are large dogs with a sturdy build. They can weigh anywhere from 60 to 150 pounds depending on their size and gender. They have a thick, curly coat that can come in a variety of colors such as black, brown, white, and parti-colored (a mix of two or more colors). Their coat is hypoallergenic and low shedding, making them a great choice for people with allergies. They have webbed feet like their Newfoundland parent, which makes them excellent swimmers.
Temperament
Newfiedoodles are known for their kind and gentle nature, making them great companions for families with children. They have a calm demeanor and are not easily provoked, even in noisy or chaotic environments. This trait comes from their parent breed, the Newfoundland, who was originally bred as a working dog and known for its calmness and patience. Newfiedoodles are also highly intelligent, thanks to the Poodle genes, and can be easy to train with positive reinforcement methods.
Exercise Needs
While Newfiedoodles have a laid-back personality, they still require daily exercise to maintain their health and well-being. These dogs have moderate energy levels and will benefit from at least 30-60 minutes of physical activity every day. This can include walks, jogs, or swimming sessions. Newfiedoodles are also great for outdoor activities such as hiking and camping and will happily join their families on adventures.
Socialization
As with any dog breed, proper socialization is essential for Newfiedoodles from a young age. These dogs are naturally friendly towards humans and other animals, but it’s still important to expose them to different experiences and people to ensure they grow up to be well-rounded and confident dogs. Early socialization can also help prevent any potential behavioral issues.
Grooming Needs
Newfiedoodles have a dense, curly coat that requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and tangle-free. Depending on the texture of their fur, they may need brushing every day or a few times a week. They also need to be bathed every 6-8 weeks and have their nails trimmed regularly. Their ears should be checked weekly for any signs of infection, and their teeth should be brushed at least three times a week.
Newfiedoodles are an amazing breed that combines the best traits of both the Newfoundland and Poodle. They are loving, loyal, and great with kids, making them a perfect addition to any family. However, like with any dog breed, it’s important to do your research and ensure you can provide the necessary care and attention before bringing one home. With proper training, socialization, and exercise, Newfiedoodles can make wonderful companions for many years to come. So, if you’re looking for a gentle and affectionate dog that will bring joy to your life, consider adding a Newfiedoodle to your family. Give them love, and they’ll give it right back!

Common Questions About Newfiedoodles
A Newfiedoodle (aka Newfypoo, Newfiepoo) is a mix between a purebred Poodle and purebred Newfoundland.
Overall, Newfiedoodles are a good breed choice for those who suffer from pet allergies or who want to avoid the added mess of dog hair in their home, as they tend to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic. Typically for those who deal with allergies, we encourage you to consider adopting a curly-coated pup since the curlier the coat, the less shedding that pup will experience as an adult. Newfiedoodles have coats that tend to be wavy to slightly curly. It’s still important to brush them regularly to reduce any normal puppy shedding and keep their coat looking healthy and beautiful. With a little extra care, you can enjoy the many benefits of owning a Newfiedoodle without worrying about shedding.
Medium Newfiedoodles grow to be 41-55 pounds while Standard Newfiedoodles grow to be over 55 pounds. Newfiedoodles are known as Gentle Giants because of their large size and gentle temperaments. Since each pup is a beautiful and unique blend of their genetics, this range is simply an estimate and not a guarantee.
Traditional Mini Newfiedoodles typically grow to be between 25-40 pounds. Since each pup is a beautiful and unique blend of their genetics, this range is simply an estimate and not a guarantee. Toy/Petite Newfiedoodles are not available.
