Sheepadoodle
Poodle plus Old English Sheepdog
Sheepadoodle Breed
A Sheepadoodle is a mix of a Poodle and a Old English Sheepdog. Mini Sheepadoodles cross an OES with a mini Poodle or toy Poodle. F1 and F1b Sheepadoodles are typically very healthy and tend to love the water. All in all, they are gentle, inquisitive, and loyal companions.
Please Note: Sheepadoodles can be an active breed. They need room to run and play daily as they can inherit herding instincts. Sheepadoodles are not best suited for small apartment settings and may be too active for households with very young children (who may feel overwhelmed) or older pet parents who are not able to give them the activity level needed. With good consistent training, this breed will become an excellent member of the family.
Appearance
Sheepadoodles come in different sizes depending on the type of Poodle that is used for breeding. They can range from mini to standard sizes, with the average weight being between 45-80 pounds. Their coat is usually thick and curly, with a mix of black, white, and sometimes gray fur. They have round faces with floppy ears and expressive eyes, making them an irresistible sight.
Temperament
Sheepadoodles are known to be affectionate and friendly dogs that make great companions for families. They are gentle and patient, making them suitable for households with children and other pets. These dogs also have a playful side to them, so be prepared for lots of fun and games! They are intelligent and eager to please, making them easy to train.
Energy Level
Due to their Poodle lineage, Sheepadoodles are energetic dogs that require regular exercise. They love to play and run around, making them the perfect partner for outdoor activities such as hiking or playing fetch. However, they are adaptable and can also do well in apartments as long as they get enough physical and mental stimulation.
Grooming
The thick coat of a Sheepadoodle requires regular brushing to prevent matting and keep it looking healthy. They are also considered to be a low-shedding breed, making them a good option for people with allergies. However, they do need occasional grooming and trimming to keep their fur from getting too long.
Conclusion
Sheepadoodles are a wonderful mix of two loving breeds, combining the intelligence and loyalty of Poodles with the playful and gentle nature of Old English Sheepdogs. They make great family pets and are well-suited for both active and apartment living. With their charming looks and friendly personalities, Sheepadoodles are sure to bring joy and love into any household. So, if you’re looking for a new furry friend, consider bringing a Sheepadoodle into your life!

Common Questions About Sheepadoodles
A Sheepadoodle is a mix between a purebred Poodle and purebred Old English Sheepdog.
Overall, Sheepadoodles are a good breed choice for those who want to avoid the added mess of excessive dog hair in their home, as they tend to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic. This does not mean they do not shed, but it’s certainly significantly less than their purebred Old English Sheepdog parent. Typically for those who deal with allergies, we encourage you to consider adopting a curly-coated pup since the curlier the coat, the less shedding that pup will experience as an adult. Sheepadoodles have coats that tend to be wavy to slightly curly. It’s still important to brush them regularly to reduce any normal puppy shedding and keep their coat looking healthy and beautiful. With a little extra care, you can enjoy the many benefits of owning a Sheepadoodle without worrying about excessive shedding.
Medium Sheepadoodles grow to be 41-55 pounds while Standard Sheepadoodles grow to be over 55 pounds. Since each pup is a beautiful and unique blend of their genetics, this range is simply an estimate and not a guarantee.
Toy/Petite Sheepadoodles grow to be between 4-24 pounds (usually falling on the larger side of that range) while Traditional Mini Sheepadoodles grow to be between 25-40 pounds. Since each pup is a beautiful and unique blend of their genetics, this range is simply an estimate and not a guarantee.
