Swiss Doodles are a mix between a tri-color mini Bernedoodle and a Tri-color Aussiedoodle. We love Bernedoodles because of their beautiful color markings, hypoallergenic coat, and laid back temperament.
Swiss Doodle Breed
Our Swiss Doodle puppies are any combination between three amazing breeds: Australian Shepherds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Poodles. They can be F1, F1b, F2 or Multigen.
People love Bernese Mountain Dogs for their beautiful markings (often merle or tri-color) and laid back temperament. Other families adore Australian Shepherds for their smaller size, coat colors, incredible intelligence, great train-ability, and excellent health. Everyone appreciates the intelligence and hypoallergenic coat of Poodles.
Our goal is to produce pups with a calmer temperament that have striking color patterns (including a lot of white) due to their Australian Shepherd and Bernese parentage, that enjoy greater health because of the additional hybrid vigor, that experience less shedding than their Australian Shepherd and Bernese parents due to the Poodle coat genes, and that are easier to train because of the Australian Shepherd and Poodle intelligence. We have received excellent feedback from our Forever Homes who have adopted our Swiss Doodles!
But what makes them stand out from other breeds? In this brief introduction to the breed, we will delve into the traits and personality of Swiss Doodles to help you better understand these lovable dogs.
As a crossbreed, Swiss Doodles can take after either parent in terms of appearance. However, they typically have a medium-sized build, with a sturdy frame similar to that of the Bernese Mountain Dog. They have a dense, wavy coat that can come in various colors such as black, white, brown, and even tri-colored combinations.
Swiss Doodles are known for their gentle and friendly nature. They make excellent family dogs due to their affectionate and playful personality. They thrive on human companionship and will often seek attention from their owners. This breed is also known for its intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please.
Swiss Doodles have a moderate energy level that requires regular exercise to keep them happy and healthy. They enjoy walks, playtime, and outdoor activities with their owners. However, they are also content with being couch potatoes as long as they get enough mental stimulation through interactive games and training sessions.
Compatibility with Children and Other Pets
Due to their gentle and easy-going nature, Swiss Doodles make great companions for children. They are patient and tolerant, making them ideal playmates for kids of all ages. They also get along well with other pets, especially if they are socialized from a young age.
Swiss Doodles have a low-shedding and hypoallergenic coat, making them suitable for owners with allergies. However, their long, wavy fur requires regular brushing to prevent matting and keep it looking healthy. They also need occasional baths and nail trims.
Common Health Issues
Like any other breed, Swiss Doodles are prone to certain health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye problems, and ear infections. However, responsible breeders conduct health screenings to minimize the risk of these issues in their litters.
Swiss Doodles are a delightful combination of two amazing breeds, making them an excellent addition to any family. They possess a loving personality, require moderate exercise and grooming needs, and get along well with children and other pets. If you’re considering adding a Swiss Doodle to your family, be prepared to fall in love with their charming and loyal nature. So, it is no surprise that they are quickly becoming a popular choice for many dog lovers. With proper care and training, Swiss Doodles will bring endless joy and companionship to their owners’ lives.

Common Questions About Swiss Doodles
A Swiss Doodle is any combination between a purebred Poodle, a purebred Australian Shepherd and a purbred Bernese Mountain Dog. Swiss Doodles can be F1, F1b, F2 or Multigen.
Overall, Swiss Doodles are a good breed choice for those who suffer from pet allergies or who want to avoid the added mess of dog hair in their home, as they tend to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic. Typically for those who deal with allergies, we encourage you to consider adopting a curly-coated pup since the curlier the coat, the less shedding that pup will experience as an adult. Swiss Doodles have coats that tend to be wavy to slightly curly. It’s still important to brush them regularly to reduce any normal puppy shedding and keep their coat looking healthy and beautiful. With a little extra care, you can enjoy the many benefits of owning a Swiss Doodle without worrying about shedding.
Toy/Petite Mini Swiss Doodles tend to grow to be in the 5-24 pound range while Traditional Mini Swiss Doodles typically grow to be between 25-40 pounds. Since each pup is a beautiful and unique blend of their genetics, this range is simply an estimate and not a guarantee. Medium and Standard Swiss Doodles are not available.
Swiss Doodles are available only in Toy/Petite and Traditional Mini sizes. See our answer above about, “How big do Mini Swiss Doodles get?”
